In 2008, Obama commented anyone can build a Coal plant, but it would bankrupt them, due to the high sum being charged to the plant. During that same interview, he did state, if unable to find a means to use coal, without emmissions, then alternative energy sources would be worked on.
It appears that promise has come into fruition on Obama’s second term. At least half of it. The massive regulations on the coal industry will be implemented, regardless of having those alternative energy sources.
“Linking global warming to public health, disease and extreme weather, the Obama administration pressed ahead Friday with tough requirements to limit carbon pollution from new power plants, despite protests from industry and from Republicans that it would mean a dim future for coal.”
